The Senior Gals

As promised.....here are some of my favorite shots of the beautiful senior girls that I photographed from the Class of 2009......

We'll start with gorgeous Greta.....don't you love the way her dog is looking on in this one!

My favorite shot from the session........I love her beautiful eyes!

Here are some of the collages that I made up for her.

These cousins had their session together, and it was a lot of fun to do it that way. Here they are in front of their Grandma's beautiful home.

I love, love, love this photo of Hannah.....love that sunshine!

Amanda is an avid reader, so we photographed her with all of her books (or what she had with her, anyway).....I thought this was a great idea. (notice what she's reading here....great book!)

Next up is Cagan...........

This outfit was perfect for "urban alley" photos.....loved how the turquoise "popped" against the brick and cement.

My favorite photo from the session.......and on instance where the wind actually cooperated...I like how her hair is blowing back in this one.

Next is the beautiful Miss Katie..........

Check out her eyes....they just sparkle!

Amanda is next.......talk about a natural beauty!

I loved these with her horse, especially wearing the sundress.

We took some softball pics, too...........

Now here's Stefanie................

I like taking photos under the viaduct.......it's kind of sad to think that it won't be there someday.

Stefanie is another one of the very patient people who has babysat my children before!

Next is Aurora.......she's so cute!

Horses were popular this year! This isn't her horse, but she still looked great on it!

And I also photographed her sister, Sierra...............

I don't know what I would do without Utility Park.....it always provides a nice variety of background options.

I especially liked this one next to the stone wall.

And now we have Melissa.......there were so many photos of Melissa that I wanted to show, I had a hard time deciding......

I just happened to have this lavender parasol that matched her dress perfectly.

This one (above) was her Mom's favorite.....and I think mine, too.

Pera is next.....and Krystall jumped in for a few during Pera's session, too.

Thinking of Pera as a Senior in high school was hard for me.........because I used to babysit Pera when she was in preschool! And it doesn't seem that long ago!

Up next is Vanessa..............

She has such pretty hair and gorgeous eyes!

And of course, you've already seen the photos I took of Crystal........so I decided to show you a few of the pages from the neat "Senior book" that I gave to her as her graduation present.

This is a 20 page, 8x8, softcover book, and will be part of my Senior packages for the upcoming year.

You've also seen a lot of photos of my niece, Hali.......and you'll see a few more in the coming days, as I'm going to feature her photos on some new products that I have to share with you.

Salute to the Senior Men

Graduation is this weekend for most, so I decided to feature the seniors that I had the privilege of photographing this year......starting with the guys.

This was my favorite shot of Leremy......I love people who aren't afraid to let their terrific personality show!

Too Bogged to Blog!

Wow, it has been such a busy few weeks! I feel like I just can't get caught up with anything....blogging included. But, here I am...posting on my brand spankin' new laptop! I had been having so many computer problems...it was time for something different.

Today I have some photos from an engagement session that I did a couple of months ago....on a very, very cold afternoon in downtown Manhattan. I was so impressed with this cute couple...they came well prepared. I thought that their wool coats looked very sharp, and helped keep them warm when they were trying not to let their teeth chatter!

I loved the reflection in this one.

And I really loved the "diner" sign that showed through the window in this one.

My Return from Twilight

Okay, so I haven't posted now in almost 2 weeks. I really didn't mean to wait that long. I have literally hundreds upon hundreds of photos that I would like to share with you. But.....I have been extremely busy getting photos edited for clients, which I feel should come before blogging....and on top of that, this computer (our family "internet" computer) is very, very ill with some sort of virus which causes it shut down immediately whenever it darn well feels like it! It's very frustrating. Yes, I know that I am married to a computer whiz, but not even he can figure out the problem, which probably means wiping it all out and starting over. And.....Alyx has had several track meets, and I have tried to attend as much as possible. She pole vaulted 8' the other day, which ties the CCMS girls record. She really wants to make 8'6, and I hope that I get to be there when she does it. I've also been attending dance recitals......2 recitals, and 2 dress rehearsals over the past 2 weeks, taking tons of photos at all of them.

So, I really have been busy. But to be completely up front about it, all of the above activities are not the real reason I haven't posted. The real reason that I haven't used some of my spare time sharing photos with you, is because I've been spending all of my spare time with Edward.

I know......it's so incredibly stupid to be hooked on a series of books that were more or less written for my daughter's age range. In fact, I purchased the first book for her when she begged for it at Target one day. She read one chapter and hated it.....so I read a chapter and was hooked! I'm now halfway through the fourth book, and can't stop reading every chance I get. I decided that I might as well just admit it.

But.....I'm here now and trying to get back to reality.......and I honestly do have so much to share with you. Here are a few "Pole Vaulting" photos from last week. AND.....I also posted a new recipe for you on the RECIPE BLOG. Check it out...it's delicious!

Wedded Bliss

These are images that I captured at a small, sweet little wedding from back in February.

The bride and groom chose not to see one another before the ceremony.....but allowed for plenty of time between the ceremony and reception for taking some terrific photos.

The bride's sister sang a song during the ceremony......and it was absolutely beautiful!

I loved the bouquet of white flowers.

The church was beautiful.....lots of wonderful natural light pouring through the windows.

This is becoming one of my favorite wedding shots.....I do it at every wedding now.

I loved all of the sunshine that was coming into the foyer of the church....... just beautiful light.

I love the shot above......the groom was always sneaking in a kiss....in several shots, I just loved the way he looked at her.

It was freezing outside, but we braved the cold (I had a coat on...the didn't!) to get some shots outside. Notice the snow on the ground behind them. It was around 23 degrees!

The bride put her boots on first.....and I loved this shot that I captured of her changing into them.

I liked the shadow of the cross on the church in this one.

Here that are at the lake........trying to hold their smiles as the wind blows into their faces!

We also found a field.....it seemed a little warmer here....at least the sun was shining.

Angel Boy

Zane and I had the pleasure of spending another day taking care of our favorite little guy, Kamdyn. I had always wanted to use these angel wings...I've had them forever, and I was glad to finally find a willing subject to wear them!

Then, since he was being such a good little sport about all the photo-taking, we (Zane and I) decided to do some Easter pics.......

He really likes Zane....watches every move that he makes. He spent quite a long time watching him play the Gameboy.

Then I got the old washtub out.....I made Zane sit in there with him at first, while I found the right combination of pillows and blankets to put in there to ensure that he didn't fall over.

Little did I know that he could just pull himself right up and stand!

And finally, I put this little vintage outfit on him (it was my Dad's...from around 1946)...it was pretty big on him, but I think it still looked pretty cute.

He kept trying to chew on the airplane....but it wouldn't quite fit into his mouth!

And finally, we dressed him back into his K-State outfit....you can tell that he was getting pretty tired of the camera by now.

And finally......

Someday this kid's gonna beg his Mother to NOT call me to babysit!

New Product: Photo Jewelry

Actually, this example isn't jewelry.......this was meant to be an ornament for the Christmas tree. I gave it to my Mom for Christmas. But, she liked it so well, and couldn't bear to put it away with her Christmas decorations, so she strung it on a long silver chain and wore it around her neck.

It originally had a beautiful satin ribbon tied through the loops at the top, for hanging on the Christmas tree.

It is two-sided, so I chose two fun photos of her grandkids to use.

Basic charms for bracelets, necklaces, etc. are also available in both large and small sizes.

Another great gift idea!

Here is the flip side....I always have loved this photo...Zane got tired of sitting and suddenly stood up and let out a holler!

I've been very pre-occupied with kitchen stuff this week. We do have our new cupboards, new sink, and new flooring now all installed, and I love it! The dishwasher is now "built-in" (was portable before) and last night, my hubby finally got our stove back into place.......so now I have to fix him something really good for dinner tonight!

I promise to show photos of the kitchen sometime soon......when I get everything back into place.

Friday Flashback: 2008 Wedding

It was November, 2008......and as it tends to happen in Kansas, the weather had been beautiful the week before, but ended up being very cold for this Saturday wedding. The decorations were all in beautiful fall colors....yellow, burnt orange...with wheat intertwined.

The beautiful bride.......and her beautiful bouquet...notice the wheat....I loved the wheat!

They tried to be very brave about the cold weather when we shot photos in Utility Park!

I really liked this one of the guys on the bridge. The groom still has his flower in this photo...but somehow it was lost before we left the park.

There are Coca-Cola collectors in the family, so we had to make a quick stop downtown, too.

Someone hollered to congratulate them as they headed down the street to their car.

I love to do "window shots" with natural light.....we decided it was warmer inside!

For nobody but myself........

Last Friday evening, my good friend Michelle called to see if I wanted to go on an little evening "photo shoot" out in the country with her.

We started by taking photos of this old, crooked barn.......we decided that a good gust of wind would probably be the end of it......but the ladder makes you wonder if someone was actually brave enough to crawl in there lately?

It was fun to take photos just for the fun of taking photos.....instead of trying to please someone with them.....the barn had such great texture.

....and you could see right through it to the other side.

Then we drove around the section to find this pond........which was beautiful just as the sun was setting.

I loved the birds that were flying away in this one.

And of course, I had to take some photos of Michelle taking photos! She took some of me, too.....she didn't get one when I backed into some sort of thorn bush.....I'm sure the look on my face was worth capturing!

It was a great evening of friendship and photography.....and we are looking forward to warmer weather so we can spend more time outside.

Y'all ready for this!

Disclaimer: I do not claim to be a good sports photographer. There is a lot of motion blur in these photos. I don't like to lug my big flash around at the games, and I have trouble holding still! I just do this for fun, because I enjoy it, and wanted to share a few (well, more than a few) of the photos I took this season.

The CCCHS and CCMS Drill Teams performed together back in December. I liked the fact that Alyx and Jori were lined up like this so that I could take pics of both of them together.

Wednesday: It's in the Bag!

I ordered this cute little Photo Cosmetic Bag for my Mom.......from the same company that I am getting the awesome Photo Purses from.

It would work for a number of other things, too, of course......it's just called a "Cosmetic Bag".

Mom hasn't used it yet, of course......she's like me.....has to display it for a while first, before she gets it dirty!

A great gift idea, and now available from "In Full Bloom".

On a different note......Congrats to the CCCHS Tiger Basketball Teams on a great season. It has been fun to watch, and I've taken quite a few photos, too. I'll post some of them on Friday.

Monday: March Madness

My blog post today really has nothing at all to do with "March Madness". I just couldn't think of a better title. I am excited that March is finally here (maybe some nicer weather on a more regular basis).....and I am excited about the NCAA Tourney, too.....although it means the end of basketball season, which means I'll have nothing to watch on TV after that.......but the weather will be better then, so we'll just spend more time outside.

I spent some time outside over the weekend. I photographed the sweetest little wedding! It was very small.....family only....and was held at a beautiful old church in Wakefield. The bride and groom chose not to see each other before the wedding (and that first glance during the ceremony was priceless), but allowed lots of time between the wedding and reception for photos......and we did take some photos outside. Here's a sneak peak:

You can't even tell that it's only 20 degrees in this photo......they look warm, don't they? :)

I also had a fun engagement session on Sunday......it was still cold, but not quite as chilly as Saturday. Speaking of engagements......I wanted to share with you some photos of the latest engagement book that I ordered in.......

I will be shooting this couple's wedding in May.....and they chose a wedding package that included one of these beautiful books. Above you see the slip-in case, imprinted with their names.

And here is the dust-jacket cover........under this, the actual hard cover of the book is also printed, in case the dust-jacket would eventually get lost or ruined.

As I mentioned above, the engagement books are included in some of my wedding packages, and of course, are available as an add-on, too. Products: Framed Prints

Besides all of the unique new ways to display photos that I've shown you.....the canvas, the stand-out, the matboard mounted print, etc.....I can also order your photos for you already framed....see below:

There are many frame choices available....from the basic black that I'm showing you here, to a traditional wood frame, or gold, silver, ornate.....and more.

The print inside of the frame is mounted on matboard and sprayed with a protective coating......so the finished piece is lightweight, and there is no glass to glare and get in the way of the beautiful photos that you want to show off.

This is a 12x12 collage that my client wanted framed and ready to hang on her wall.

Tu-Tu Cute on a Tuesday!

I bought this beautiful tutu almost a year ago, and have hardly used it. So, I decided that I had to try it out on someone....and who better to wear it than this little cutie!

I can't wait for warmer weather......I'm really going to try to remember to use it outside, as I think it will look beautiful in a natural setting.

I love the one above....how she's leaning over....."tu-tu funny" (sorry...couldn't resist)

Honestly, she didn't really like it very well......but you can't tell so much in the photos.

Then she decided it was time to make a couple of phone calls.

She was calling her Daddy to see if he would come and rescue her from this crazy lady who was making her wear a big itchy tutu!

I found this pillow and loved all of the colors.

Our kitchen is coming together......some of the cupboards were hung yesterday, and more should be completed by the end of this week. It's very exciting....I'll be sure to post pics when it's finished.

For Sale

The coffee pot is in the bathroom. The stove is on the back porch. There are dirty dishes in the bathtub. We are living on microwaved food and "Wendy's".......but it's all going to be worth it when my kitchen is done, and I am so excited!

So.....I just listed my old retro metal cabinets HERE on Ebay.

I sure wish that I would have thought to straighten up all of the junk in them before I took these photos......I'm really kind of embarrassed.

They are now all out of there, and my hubby is putting up new drywall on this wall right now. We are moving the sink around to the other side of the kitchen, so it will be under the window.

I'll keep you updated as the project progresses........

Product Share: Canvas

One of my clients ordered a canvas recently, and when it arrived, I took some photos of it to share with you before she picked it up.

I was so pleased with it......the color and clarity was just beautiful.

The edges were wrapped tightly and neatly, and it was lined up perfectly.

And on the back is a single wire hanger.....the easiest way to hang something of this size, if you ask me. The canvas is a 16x20.

So, the next time you get your teeth cleaned, you just might see this hanging on the wall!

First Valentine's Day

Zane and I had the pleasure of babysitting for Kamdyn today........and when he arrived at our house, he was wearing his new "Baby's 1st Valentine's" shirt.........

So of course, I had to get some photos.......after all, you only have one first Valentine's Day.

We did some with the hat.....and some without.

And apparently we wore him out......he started yawning!

He really loves Zane......he would watch him all day if Zane would keep playing with him.

A "Stand-Out" Performance

My sister Jolie, who, for those that may not know, is the owner of The Dance Company dance studios in Clay Center and Concordia, wanted something neat to hang on the wall of the studio to commemorate "The Nutcracker" performance in December. I convinced her to order a 20x20 "stand-out" (see previous post for more info). Here's how it turned out...........

20x20 is a great size......large enough to make a statement, yet not too big that you couldn't hang other things around it on the wall. And because the "stand-outs" are mounted on foam, it is very lightweight, so Jolie won't have to worry about one of her dancers bumping it on the wall and knocking it off on someone's head!

I am a big fan of the square format......I guess it comes from being a scrapbooker, and using the 12x12 papers over and over. I am planning a large gallery of square prints in my new kitchen. Did I tell you that we are remodeling? I am so excited, and will post photos in the next week or so.

Here's a way to "Stand-out" above the rest

I have always loved finding new, unique ways to display photographs. It's now one of the things I love most about being a "professional photographer".......seeing and ordering all of the new products offered by the various labs that I use.

So, here is another new offering that I am adding to my growing list of "products" that can be ordered from "In Full Bloom Photography".........the Stand-out.

The great thing about a "Stand-out" mounting, is that your photo comes completely ready to hang.....no frame is needed. The print is mounted directly onto 3/4 inch foam, and sprayed with a luster coating for protection.

The sides of the foam are painted black, giving it a clean, classy look. Because it is foam, it is very lightweight.

Not all sizes can be mounted as a "Stand-out". This one is an 8x10, and the 11x14 and 16x20 sizes are also included, along with several collage sizes, like 10x20 and the 20x20 square format.

Several holes are already drilled into the foam for you, for easy hanging. (see image below)

What a simple way to create a really cool wall gallery in your home! And....no need to worry about the images falling off of the wall and breaking glass in a frame, or injuring someone below.

Friday Flashback: Family Session from 2008

I'm closing out this week with some fun shots from a family session from last fall.

Actually, I think it was more like August when we took these.......there is so much that I have forgotten to share with you from 2008.

This little cutie really stole the show......and obviously is adored by her family.

I really liked how the above image turned out......so pretty the way the light fell on her hair.

I loved this one, too (above). The plaid shorts, and the way she is trying to copy just what he does.

Of course, we had to head down to my favorite bridge for a few shots.

Friday Flashback: Kamdyn's Christmas Pics

I had to look back, because I couldn't remember if I had ever posted Kamdyn's Christmas photos. I don't think that I had, so here are some favorites. I loved his little cowboy boots (above).

He is growing so fast! He really changes each week. I love our Sunday dinners with the Bloom family.....just so I can squeeze him a little!

I think he looks a lot like his Dad, but he really has Whitney's big blue eyes.

Grandma Susan bought him this Santa hat. We loved the expression on his face in the one above!

New Product: Accordion Books

I started ordering these fun little accordion books last fall when one of my clients placed a large order......as kind of a "thank you" gift. Then, because I had other clients start requesting them, I decided to offer them as a custom product.

Here is one all folded up........they are 3x3 in size (inches....it looks bigger in this photo)....and there are many cover colors available.

They are 2-sided. Here is an example of one side unfolded.

I have found that a 5x30 collage fits very nicely onto one side of the books.....and usually, I've already made up one or two of these for a client, so it makes the design process easy for me.

And the other side, because of the covers (front and back), is a little shorter, so I usually use 4 different square collages for that side.

Of course, it could also be filled with photos cropped into squares........the possibilities are endless.

One more thing.......these come in sets of 3 (all alike).....that's how I have to order them from the lab. So, when you order, you will receive 3 of the same book.....great for gift giving!

Friday Flashback: Senior

This gal is one of my favorite people in the world. Besides having a wonderful personality....smart, funny, and genuine....she also is a terrific babysitter. She is more patient with my children than anyone I know, including myself....and she bakes when she comes to my house! (and leaves the leftovers for me!)

I was really glad when she asked me to take her senior pictures. We had fun together out at the farm......even though she lives in town, she is a farm girl at heart.

I really loved her boots...and the fact that she wore them with that dress!

My kids will miss having her babysit this summer.......since I'm working from home now, I won't need to hire anyone. And then, of course, she'll be off to college.

We wish her all the best, and know that she'll be successful no matter what she decides to do with her future. Thanks for everything, C.C.!

Here it is .....the newest product offering from "In Full Bloom Photography"......these beautiful photo purses!

Mine has been sitting beside my desk for weeks......it's so pretty that I just like looking at it....haven't brought myself to start using it yet!

There is a photo on each side, and of course, this isn't the only style I will be offering. I chose the black and white sides to go with the black and white photos.

The inside is nice and roomy....with several little pockets.....because us women need little pockets.

Make sure and ask to see mine when you have your session. I can even get cute little "bag tags" with another photo of your choosing, to hang from the little hook on the bag.

I am very excited about some new products that I will begin offering through "In Full Bloom" in 2009. I plan to introduce you to each of them here on the blog, and I thought there wasn't a better place to start then with a calendar........

This is the cover of the calendar....of course, it can be customized any way that you like....using just one photo, or a collage of your favorites from your session.

Here's an example of the inside of the calendar.....held by my "mystery model".....

Again the calendar months can be custom designed using just one image per month, or a collage, with your choice of fun patterned or solid backgrounds. Also, you can choose up to 20 special dates to include on the calendar....birthdays, anniversaries, etc.

The size of the calendar is 10x10 (closed), or 10x20 when it is hanging. It is printed on beautiful, high quality paper, with a matte finish. You can start with any month, so if you decide you still want a calendar in February, you can start in in February, and it will last through January of next year.

Christmas 2008

The Christmas Season was just a blur.....like it is every year....it goes by so quickly. I feel a little like that guy on the commercial on TV...when he has to unplug all of his Christmas lights and looks so depressed. Kind of like Zane looks in this picture......

He really was excited to see Santa Claus.....but then acted shy once we got there.

Next up is a shot of the whole gang on Christmas Eve.....when we have Christmas with my Mom's side of the family.....

And then the next morning.....I always make my kids pause for a photo before they look to see what Santa brought them......

Zane got "Need for Speed Undercover" for the Playstation. (yes, I know he's a little young for it....he usually has help from Zeb)

Zeb (who was obviously happy about having me take this photo) got Dirt Bike Boots. I thought they looked huge in the box....but they fit him fine. He's growing so tall.

Alyx got a new Flat Iron. She kept telling us that she wanted a "Chi" for Christmas. Caleb thought she said "Cheese" and couldn't figure out why she'd want cheese for Christmas.

But here's the best thing that Santa brought for the whole family..........

Alyx is pretty good on the drums, and Zeb does a great job on guitar.......but I can beat them both singing on the microphone! I'm terrible on the drums, though....and I've never even tried the guitar. It really is a lot of fun.

We finally dragged ourselves away from Guitar Hero to head up to Grandma and Grandpa's for Christmas Breakfast in our pajamas.

My Mom always makes a wonderful breakfast.....and decorates the table beautifully.

Here's Jolie, filming Mom in the kitchen, as she puts the finishing touches on breakfast.

And then everybody digs in.....egg casserole, cinammon rolls, fresh fruit..it's my favorite part of Christmas.

Later that day, we headed over for the Bloom Christmas. Alyx needs to only look at Kamdyn and he starts smiling. We always told her she was funny looking.

Zane and Keagen waited patiently to open gifts. (not really....I just happened to catch this moment, right before Zane got up to come and ask again if it was time)

Hangin' out in the kitchen. Another of my favorite parts of Christmas. The only thing missing is Darlene, sitting there in her chair.

And then everyone gathers around to watch the kids open their gifts.

Keagen being silly.

I don't know what Whitney is doing here.....smelling his diaper? Doing a "Lion King" reenactment? Starting a K-State Wave?

Ned apparently wanted all of the Chex Mix for himself.

After the kids opened their gifts, the adults started the "Grab Bag" gift exchange. It gets pretty

interesting sometimes.

Zane got one of those "Kid Cameras". It doesn't take very good pictures (big surprise), but he's had fun with it.

And here he is playing the drums......he didn't want to play Guitar Hero for the first couple of days, but then he decided he liked the drums, and he's been beating away on them ever since.

Except today.......today the house is quiet. The kids went back to school. :)

Friday Flashback: Punt, Pass & Kick

I have lots of new things on the horizon for "In Full Bloom Photography" in 2009, but I still have several things to share with you from 2008, too. The end of the year just flew by...we were so incredibly busy! Here are a few photos from the Punt, Pass and Kick. Alyx took 3rd place....her classmate, Caleb Carson, took 1st. We had a good time...except that it was freezing at the game!

We were glad that they did the PPK recognition at the Pregame ceremony, because we were ready to head to the car by the second quarter...it was just too cold for Alyx and I. I know that Caleb would have liked to stay longer and watch more of the game, but as soon as I mentioned eating at Carlos O Kelley's on the way home, he was okay with leaving, too!

My big toe was completely frozen....it felt like a rock for about an hour. So..I had the heat in the car cranked up all the way. Caleb told me later that he seriously thought that his pantleg was going to catch on fire in the car!

These were the first photos of Zeb with his new glasses.

Zane wasn't exactly cooperative during this photo session......but his brother and sister tended to cause some of the problems!

Friday Flashback: Alyx and Kendra

Kendra was her hero back when this photo was taken......at KSU Basketball Camp, just before Kendra's senior year at KSU. Alyx was so excited to spend that week at camp, interacting with her favorite players every day.

We are headed to Kansas City this weekend to watch Alyx compete in the Punt, Pass and Kick at the Chiefs game on Sunday morning. She is so excited, and we hope she does well, just as her hero, Kendra Wecker, did when she was Alyx' age. Have a great weekend!

Five days.......about how long I've been planning this post, and just now I'm getting to it. Whew! What a crazy couple of weeks it has been! We had a terrific Thanksgiving on Thursday....spent it in Salina with my Mom's side of the family. And then on Sunday, we held a combined Bloom Thanksgiving, and Birthday Party for Zane. He turned Five!

And being the good Mom that I am.....I went out and bought him a cake......but it was good, a cookies and cream Ice Cream Cake.

Uncle Doug, who loves to spoil the boys, made Zeb and Zane their own Cornish Hens for Thanksgiving! When he showed it to Zane, he asked "Is that a rat?"

Thanks, Uncle Doug......you made them feel very special.

After dinner, Zane opened up his Birthday presents.......isn't this a perfect gift for Zane?

And this Western Gun Set was one of his favorite gifts.

Zane wasn't the only one with a birthday over the weekend......Uncle Tracy turned 50! So, we had to get a picture with him, too.

In other news.......Alyx recently found out that she does get to go and compete in the Punt, Pass, and Kick competition at the Kansas City Chiefs game on December 14th.....we were so excited for her. I've never attended a Chiefs game, so I'm excited to go.....I hope the weather is decent.

The Dance Company is performing The Nutcracker tonight at CCCHS, beginning at 7pm. I saw the show last night at dress rehearsal, and it is fantastic. Be sure to attend.

At the beginning of his session, this little guy was still pretty sleepy.

And then he gave me this look......like "Lady, who are you and why are you bothering me?"

So, while he took a little nap, we put him on the scale and weighed him.

Then we poked him in the ribs until he woke up. No, not really. He woke up on his own.

I've always wanted to do this shot.....I was glad that his Mommy thought of it.

He was glad, too. It didn't bother him a bit to have rings hanging off of his toes.

This was one of my favorites.....love those big eyes.

He was just pretty content to hang around on Daddy's hand.

He gave Daddy a little smile, too.

And doesn't Mommy have the prettiest hair! I'm so jealous.

Poor little guy......we wore him out taking all of these pictures!

Yep, that pretty much describes my life these days.....but I am loving it. Thanks to all those who have "given me a shot" at their family/senior/kid's photos this fall. I never dreamed I would be this busy.

So......I better get back to editing. I have 10 sessions (and a wedding) to edit right now! Before I go, I thought I would share with you some shots from an engagement session. I'll be shooting this beautiful couple's wedding later this month.

Probably no "Flashback Friday" tomorrow, as I will be out of town, and it is our 16th anniversary! I'll try to post a "Monday Memory" next week instead. Have a terrific weekend!

Friday Flashback: Little Stevie

For today's Flashback....we go way back in time. Into the early 1950's. These are all pictures of my Dad.

Above is my Dad and his sister, Sheryl. There are several family members that think Zane really looks like my Dad. I used to think so.....now I just think he looks like Caleb.

A bunny suit? Outside? With snow on the ground? I don't know the story behind this one...but he sure looks cute!

Queen Hali

This is one of my beautiful nieces........Hali Joan Bloom.....Homecoming Queen of Phillipsburg High School.

She is the 3rd one of my beautiful nieces to be crowned Homecoming Queen in the last 3 years. My nephew was up for King last year, but didn't win. I'm sure there was some huge mistake!

Isn't she just stunning? I sure think so.

It was raining on the day that she came to do her Senior pictures......so we had to do only inside studio shots that day. We are still trying to find a time to go out and do some outside shots. It's a long drive here from Phillipsburg.

She is the youngest, so this May will be our last trip to Phillipsburg for graduation.

This next one was my favorite....I love the "upside down shot".

Check out the jeans! I'm glad my Mom doesn't read this blog....she'd have a fit about those holes.....she actually IRONS her jeans before she wears them!

Another Bat in the Bloom House

Halloween 2008: Zane as Batman. We had a successful night of trick-or-treating. The candy is already gone.....which is okay. I'd rather they just eat it up so it's not in the house.

He really wanted to show off the cape......but he had trouble getting it to "flow out" behind him.

And he didn't like the mask much, either....it didn't stay in place so that he could see.

Apparently having your shoes tied isn't a big deal if you're Batman.

We tried having someone hold the cape out behind him while I took the photo...but it just made the mask go crooked.

And finally, he just went outside and tried running really fast up the sidewalk so that it would fly out behind him. Nothing worked very well. He tried riding his bike, too....but the cape got caught in the spokes. He finally gave up and decided he was ready to go trick or treating.

Friday Flashback: Halloweens Past

Happy Halloween! Here are some pictures of my "ghosts of Halloweens past"......

Here is Alyxis, at about age 3.......as Minnie Mouse.....she LOVED those red boots! She wore them absolutely everywhere that year!

This was one of my favorite years......the cowgirl and the black-eyed Indian! This was, of course, the same year that Zeb blackened his eye by falling off the back porch railing.

This is Alyxis and Jace, my nephew......she wasn't a very happy clown, was she?

And look at poor little Jace's face! He didn't know what to think of her!

And the next year.....Alyx was a princess, and Zeb wore the Pooh outfit.

Zane is going to be Batman this year......pictures will be coming on Monday. Have a terrific weekend!

Sunflower Family

We woke up this morning to an overnight low of 23 degrees. My plants all froze outside....which was fine....I'm not someone who tries to keep them through the winter. I had to scrape my windows to take Alyx to Jazz Band practice at 7:15 this morning....and I hate to scrape windows! I'm usually someone who welcomes colder weather...but I'm not sure I'm ready this year.

I'd rather think back to warmer days.....like this one, when I visited a sunflower field with one of my favorite families......

Above is an example of a 5x30 collage. I love them because they will fit in tight spots....especially if you're someone like me, who already has too many things hanging on the walls! They can be done vertically or horizontally, with a lot of images, or with just a few, like this one.

Flashback Friday: Package Portraits

We all did it. Stood in line for 30 minutes at the local department store, waiting for our turn to walk up and pose for one, 60 second photo....usually at Easter, and at Christmas. I remembered these times yesterday, as I did those same kinds of "package sessions" at Mayo's. I wasn't very busy, and we discussed whether people do much of that kind of thing anymore.

So, this morning, I dug through old photo albums, looking back at all of the old photos that Jolie and I had taken in exactly that type of setting. We were usually wearing outfits made by my Great-Grandmother. Like these lovely little Easter dresses.........

Hmmm.....I wonder if we fed those ducks while we were there........I guess that's why they put us over on the left side of the frame....to be sure the ducks would be seen. Isn't my Dorothy Hamill haircut nice?

And then there were these little polyester double-knit jumpers.........

I just love the festive little Santa ornament.....makes the photo scream "Christmas," doesn't it? And what is with this haircut? I was in FIRST grade, for heaven's sake! Why would give a first grader a haircut like Florence Henderson??

I could be the lost Brady Bunch sister. Or Raggedy Ann. Either way, this is so awful. I almost didn't want to show it to you. Enjoy your laugh, and have a great weekend!

Basketball season has officially started.....at least if you're a middle school girl, anyway. Alyx had practice at 6am this morning. Which means, of course, that I got to drive her to practice at 6 in the morning! I do get an earlier start to my day, which is always good.....I can drink even more coffee that way.

Our Sporty Girl

Alyx has been competing in the Punt, Pass and Kick competition now for 3 years. Each year, she has won the competition in her age division here in Clay Center, which then qualifies her to go to Concordia for a Regional competition. So, Caleb and I have taken her to Concordia on a Sunday afternoon in October for the last 3 years, only to see her shank her kick, or slip on her punt, or something that causes her to be mad all the way home! This year when she qualified, we both had other things going on, so we sent her with another family......and wouldn't you know it, she won! Her total for her punt, pass, and kick was 296 feet. Now we have to wait for the results of the other regional events, and if she ends up with the best total in her age group, she'll get to go to a Chiefs game to compete in December. She's so excited about it......we're afraid she'll tell us to stay home from all of her sports events from now on....maybe we're bad luck!

Here are a few shots of her (she's #8) at NCKL Volleyball in Wamego last Saturday. The Bengals took 3rd place.

Flashback Friday: Why Zeb Bloom doesn't play football....

Sweet Seniors

It is definitely "Senior Season", and I've had some really fun Senior Sessions this year. These cute gals are cousins, and chose to do their session together. We had a great time!

We have decided to tear our house apart in several places (as if I wasn't disorganized enough). Last night we were planning to scrape wallpaper in the kitchen, but ended up tearing the entire wall apart, removing the old plaster and lathe. What a dusty mess! I can't wait to have nice, smooth, painted walls, though! It's a lot of work...but it will be worth it!

Monday Night Football

A couple of weeks ago, I spent an entire Saturday morning shooting photos at the 4th, 5th, and 6th grade CCFA games. It was a beautiful morning, and I really enjoyed capturing moments like this one.....when Mr. Jace Kasper caught a pass in the endzone for a 2 point conversion. He was so excited......his Dad was so excited....and we were all happy for him!

Collages of Cuteness

I design a handful of collages for every client and add them to their proof gallery as examples. But I always tell the client......they are just examples, because when it comes to collages, the possibilities are endless! The text, colors, shape, size, and images are all interchangeable......and I've ordered in some awesome collages for my clients lately. Some are framed...some are just mounted on matboard, which is a great way to easily display them on a shelf or tabletop easel. Here are the collages I recently designed for my favorite little blue-eyed subject. Note: I have covered, blurred, or removed her name for privacy purposes.

I finally hooked my new scanner up.....so now every Friday will be a "Flashback Friday". This photo is from about 2002, I think. Caleb's Mom bought these shirts for them. Zeb truly is a "Chip off the old Block", too! I don't know why Caleb looks so unhappy.....he usually smiles for pictures.....I guess he just wasn't ready!
